اُن بی بی سائیں کی پرسنیلٹی سے خانی کافی مرعوب ہوئی تھی. سرخ و سفید صحت مند چہرا, جس پر موجود ہلکی ہلکی جھڑیاں اُن کی عمر کا پتا دے رہی تھیں. گلے میں بھاری سا گلوبند اور ہاتھوں میں بہت ساری بڑے بڑے نگوں والی قیمتی انگوٹھیاں پہنے وہ بہت جانچتی نظروں سے خانی کی جانب دیکھ رہی تھیں. اُن کی نگاہوں کا سرد پن خانی با آسانی دیکھ پارہی تھی.
عینا تو اُن کی رعب دار پرسنیلٹی کی وجہ سے جھک کر اُنہیں سلام کر چکی تھی. اب باقی سب کی نظریں خانی کی جانب تھیں.
” بُرا مت مانیئے گا بی بی سائیں. مگر میں خانی اسجد بلوچ ہوں. میرا نام مجھے کسی کے سامنے جھکنے کی اجازت نہیں دیتا. میں نہ ہی کبھی کسی کے سامنے جھکی ہوں اور نہ ہی کبھی کسی کو اپنے سامنے جھکانا مجھے پسند ہے. “
سینے پر بازو باندھتے خانی انتہائی عزت و احترام سے کہتے سامنے بیٹھی بی بی سائیں کو بہت کچھ جتا گئی تھی.
وہاں موجود تمام خواتین ہکا بکا سی خانی کے الفاظ پر اُس کی جانب دیکھ رہی تھیں. آج تک کسی کی ہمت نہیں ہوئی تھی بی بی سائیں کا حکم ٹالنے کا. اُن کے مطابق یہ لڑکی آتے ہی اتنی بڑی غلطی کر چکی تھی. اب اِس کا بی بی سائیں کے قہر سے بچنا ناممکن تھا.
بی بی سائیں اپنی توقع کے عین مطابق جواب سنتے کچھ دیر اُس دھان پان لڑکی کی جانب دیکھی رہی تھیں. اگلے ہی لمحے اپنی جگہ سے اُٹھتے کچھ فاصلے پر موجود خانی کے سامنے آکھڑی ہوئی تھیں. اُن کو اُٹھتا دیکھ وہاں موجود تمام خواتین اپنی جگہ سے اُٹھ کھڑی ہوئی تھیں.
” بہت خوبصورت ہو تم لڑکی. اور لگتا ہے اِس بات کا بہت غرور بھی ہے تمہیں.”
خانی کے چہرے پر نگاہیں گاڑھے وہ اپنے اندر کے اُٹھتے غصے کو کنٹرول کرتے بظاہر مسکرائی تھیں.
” جس خوش فہمی کے سہارے اتنے بڑے بڑے بول بول رہی ہو. پہلے اُس کی حقیقت تو جان لو. میرے پوتے نے تمہیں صرف میرے کہنے پر یہاں بلوایا ہے. وہ تو تمہاری شکل بھی نہیں دیکھنا چاہتا. بہت محبت کرتا ہے میرا پوتا مجھ سے. میری کوئی بات نہیں ٹالتا. تم جو آج اپنے خاندان کے نام پر اتنا اُچھل رہی ہو نا کچھ دنوں میں ہی اِس حویلی کی باندی بنا کر نہ رکھ دیا تو کہنا. “
خانی کو نفرت برساتی نظروں سے دیکھتے وہ پھنکارتے لہجے میں بولیں. جس پر کچھ لمحوں کے لیے وہاں موجود باقی تمام نفوس کے ساتھ ساتھ خانی بھی سہم گئی تھی.
” مجھے آپ کے پوتے سے ایسی کسی بھی غلط فہمی کی کوئی اُمید نہیں ہے. وہ کیا میں خود اُس کی شکل دیکھنا پسند نہیں کرتی.
ہوگی آپ کو اور آپ کے پوتے کو دوسروں کو اپنا غلام بنانے کی عادت مگر خانی اسجد بلوچ کے حوالے سے ایسے خواب دیکھنا چھوڑ دیں. ایسا اِس دنیا میں تو کبھی ممکن نہیں ہے. آپ لوگ پہلے ہی میرے خاندان کے ساتھ جو کرچکے ہیں. اُس کا حساب دینا ابھی باقی ہے. “
خانی کی بات پوری ہی ہوئی تھی جب ایک طرف سے ایک ملازمہ حواس باختہ سی بھاگتے ہوئے آئی تھی.
” بی بی سائیں سردار سائیں دیوان میں آچکے ہیں. اور نگار بی بی کے حوالے سے فیصلہ سنانے والے ہیں. “
ملازمہ کی اتنی بات کہنے کی دیر تھی کہ بی بی سائیں اور باقی سب عورتیں اُن کے پیچھے ڈرائنگ روم کے دوسرے دروازے کی جانب بڑھ تھیں. جس سے آگے ایک راہداری عبور کرتے مخالف رُخ پر ایک جالی دار دیوار موجود تھی.
جہاں سے دیوان کا پورا نظارہ نظر آتا تھا. خانی اور عینا کو وہیں چھوڑ کر باقی سب اُس دیوار کے ساتھ جا کھڑی ہوئی تھیں.
