“ماعون مجھے پیسے نہیں چاہیے۔۔۔”

 اب کہ اس نے بھی ہمت جمع کر کے کہنا چاہا ہی تھا مگر مقابل نے سخت گرفت سے اس کا بازو پکڑ لیا۔

” پھر کیا؟ ہاں پھر کیا چاہیے؟ کتنی قیمت رکھی ہے اپنی بتاؤ اور جان چھوڑو۔ ایک کروڑ کم ہیں؟ دو کروڑ ؟”

ماعون نے چلا کر آخر میں اس کا بازو چھوڑ دیا، جو بھی تھا ایرہ اس سب کے لیے تیار نہیں تھی اس لیے اپنا توازن برقرار نہ رکھتے ہوئے دو تین قدم پیچھے ہٹی۔

  “مجھے بس طلاق نہیں چاہیے ماعون”

 پھر بھی ہمت جمع کر کے اس نے دبی دبی آواز میں کہا، خود کی تذلیل تو وہ کب سے ہی برداشت کررہی تھی ۔

“کیوں نہیں چاہیے؟ ایسا بھی کیا ہو گیا چند گھنٹوں میں؟ ابھی تو مجھے کال کر کے تم طلاق طلاق لگی ہوئی تھی اب یہاں خود آکر ساتھ مانگ رہی ہو ۔کس کو متاثر کرنا چاہتی ہو تم؟ پلان کیا ہے تمہارا؟”

 تین قدموں کے فاصلے پر کھڑی ایرہ بے یقینی سے اس کے آخری جملوں کو سمجھنے کی سعی کر رہی تھی، ماعون سے ایسے الفاظ وہ سنے گی، یہ اس کے گماں تک میں نہیں تھا

“ماعون، دیکھو میں بس اتنا چاہتی ہوں کہ تم مجھے۔۔۔۔طلاق مت دو۔۔۔ میں۔۔۔ میں”

 ایرہ ماعون کو سمجھانے کے لیے بے ساختہ اس کی طرف لپکی تھی اس کے ہر غلط لفظ کو نظر انداز کیے مگر اس نے تو بیچ میں ہی ٹوک دیا۔

“کیا میں میں لگا رکھی ہے۔۔۔۔۔ سیدھے طریقے سے بتاؤ کتنے پیسے چاہیے؟ میرے پاس فضول کا وقت نہیں ہے اور تو اور تم جیسی کریکٹرلیس لڑکی کو میں اپنے ساتھ کیوں برداشت کروں”

ماعون تو جیسے سوچنے سمجھنے کی صلاحیت سے محروم ہو کر پھٹ پڑا تھا تو ادھر اب ایرہ کی برداشت ختم ہوئی تھی۔
