نور نے دل ہی دل میں فیصلہ کر لیا کہ وہ اپنے والدین کو خوش رکھنے کے لیے ہر ممکن کوشش کرے گی، مگر وہ یہ سمجھنے سے قاصر تھی کہ ان کے دل پر جو گہرے زخم تھے، وہ وقت کے ساتھ بھی کیوں نہ بھر سکے۔ نور کے ذہن میں ہزاروں سوال گردش کر رہے تھے۔ امی ابو کی یہ حالت کیوں ہو رہی تھی؟ کیا وہ کوئی راز چھپا رہے ہیں؟ یا کیا واقعی اس کی بات نے ماضی کے کسی گہرے زخم کو چھیڑ دیا ہے؟ نور کی سمجھ سے سب کچھ باہر تھا، مگر ایک چیز وہ طے کر چکی تھی کہ وہ اپنی وجہ سے ان دونوں کو کبھی پریشان نہیں ہونے دے گی۔

رات کی گہری خاموشی میں دونوں کے دلوں پر چھائے زخم ایسے تھے جیسے کوئی بند کمرہ جس کی ہوا رک چکی ہو، اور نور کی معصوم باتوں نے اس کمرے میں ایک جھونکا تو دیا، مگر وہ زخم پھر بھی تازہ رہ گئے۔ باہر درختوں کی سرسراہٹ جیسے کمرے کے سناٹے کو توڑنے کی ناکام کوشش کر رہی تھی، اور چاندنی کی روشنی آسیہ اور وجدان کے دلوں کے اندھیروں میں راستہ بنانے سے قاصر تھی۔ نور نے ان کے لیے خوشیوں کی دعا کی، مگر وہ نہیں جانتی تھی کہ کچھ زخم ایسے ہوتے ہیں جو نہ وقت بھرتا ہے اور نہ دعائیں، بلکہ وہ ہمیشہ دل کے کسی کونے میں خنجر کی طرح چبھتے رہتے ہیں۔
