ہاں ! وہ بوڑھا شخص جو تمہارا بل دے کر گیا ہے۔ وہ بڑی معصومیت سے بیٹھا پوچھ رہا تھا۔

ظاہر سی بات ہے ، اُسی نے ہسپتال سے کال کر کے مجھے یہاں بلایا۔۔۔۔۔ اس نے اپنی جیب میں ہاتھ ڈالا تھا اور پھر چند ڈالرز نکال کر میرے سامنے رکھ دیئے۔

یہ رقم بھی دے کر گیا ہے۔۔۔۔ کہہ رہا تھا تمہارا پرانا دوست ہے۔۔۔۔تم نے بتایا تھا کے ایک بار پہلے بھی امریکہ آ چکے ہو۔

میں نے اُسکی ایک بھی بات غور سے نہ سنی تھی۔ میری آنکھوں کے سامنے بارہ سو ڈالرز پڑے تھے۔۔۔۔۔ایک فقیر جسے میں دو ڈالرز اُسکی انگریزی ٹوپی میں دے آیا تھا ، وہ مجھے بارہ سو ڈالرز کا تحفہ دے گیا تھا۔

مجھے کوئی غرض نہ تھی اس سے کہ وہ انسان تھا یا نہیں مگر میں فلیٹ واپس جا کر گھر کال کر سکتا تھا۔ اس سے بڑھ کر اس وقت مجھ کو اور کچھ نہ تھا۔

پہلی کمائی

آنکھیں موند کر میں لیٹا کافی دیر اس بات کو سوچتا رہا۔ میرے خیالی پلاؤ میں کسی نے کشمش کے چند دانے  رکھے تھے۔ بند آنکھوں سے وہ ڈالرز میں نے اپنی مُٹھی میں بند کیے تھے۔ یہ میری پہلی کمائی تھی۔۔۔۔جِسے میں پاکستان بھیج سکتا تھا۔

حامد صاحب نے پھر کچھ نہ پوچھا تھا ، میری طبیعت کا خیال رکھتے وہ واپس کرسی پر جا بیٹھے تھے۔ اُنکی خاموشی پر اور اس امانت داری پر میں نے سوچ لیا تھا کہ اُنہیں بھی کچھ رقم دوں گا۔

پر دیس کے ہسپتالوں میں واقعی سکون تھا۔۔۔۔۔ یقین جانو پاکستان کے ہسپتالوں میں تو جب تک مریض کا پورا گاؤں شور و غل نہ ڈال دے تب تک مریض پر دوا اثر ہی نہیں کرتی۔ یہاں تو میں گھڑی کی ٹک ٹک کو بھی انگلیوں پر گن سکتا تھا۔

ایک۔۔۔۔دو۔۔۔۔تین۔۔۔۔۔ اور پھر۔۔۔۔اور پھر وہ فقرہ۔۔

جاؤ! دیر نہ کرو ۔۔۔۔ پودا تمہارے انتظار میں ہے۔

وہ لہجہ ۔۔۔۔۔ وہ لفظ ۔۔۔۔۔
