“نہیں!” آواز میں تیزی تھی۔ کتنی ہمت مجتمع کرنی پڑی تھی اس ایک لفظ کو کہنے کے لیے۔ خبیر اپنی جگہ پتھر کی سل بن گیا تھا۔ وہ کچھ کہہ ہی نہیں سکا کہ ایسا کیوں؟۔۔۔ اسے تو پورا یقین تھا کہ وہ  آج آئش سلیمان علی سے آئش خبیر حارث علی بن جائے گی لیکن قسمت کو تو کچھ اور ہی منظور تھا۔ مولوی صاحب حارث علی کا منہ دیکھنے لگے۔ مہمانوں میں چہ مگوئیاں ہونے لگیں۔ زرینہ فوراً سے آش کے قریب ہوئیں۔ آئش کیا کہہ رہی ہو یہ۔

            مامی آئش، خبیر سے شادی نہیں کرے گی۔ میں آپ سے آئش کا ہاتھ مانگتا ہوں۔ یہ عماز کی آواز تھی۔ اسے ابھی آئش کو حوصلہ دینا تھا کہ وہ آئش کے ساتھ ہے اس کا ہم نوا۔

عماز!!!۔۔۔۔۔ خبیر کی آواز بلند ہوئی تھی۔ وہ عماز کے ساتھ دو دو ہاتھ کرنے کو تیار تھا۔ حارث علی نے آگے بڑھ کر اسے روکا۔ لمحوں میں منظر تبدیل ہو گیا۔ سب ایسے دیکھ رہے تھے جیسے یہ آئش کا سنو پلے ہو اور وہ ابھی اٹھ کے کہے گی۔۔

 تایا ابا میں نے اچھی ایکٹنگ کی نا۔

 سب ہی اپنی جگہ حیران تھے۔ محفل برخاست ہوگئی لوگ گھروں کو جانے لگے۔ ادھر کس نے کیا بات کی، کس نے کونسا الزام لگایا اور اسے کونسا طعنہ دیا آئش کو کوئی علم نہ تھا۔ اس نے کان بند کر لیے تھے۔  ذہن میں بس ایک ہی لفظ تھا۔۔۔ “نہیں!”۔

ماموں میں آپ کے آگے ہاتھ جوڑتا ہوں۔ پلیز آئش کا ہاتھ میرے ہاتھ میں دے دیں۔

 تم چپ رہو عماز! نوین آگے بڑھیں۔

اسے بولنے دو نوین۔ حارث علی نے گویا اسے اجازت دی۔

  میں آپ کو یقین دلاتا ہوں ماموں  میں آئش کو خوش رکھوں گا۔ وہ یہ نہ کہہ سکا کہ میں آئش کے بغیر مر جاؤں گا۔

 بھائی جان میں آپ سے معافی مانگتی ہوں اس لڑکے نے مجھے دکھی کیا ہوا۔ کدھر جاؤں میں اپنی قسمت کا رونا لے کر۔ نوین رو دینے کو تھیں۔

امی پلیز! عماز نے انہیں التجائی نظروں سے دیکھا۔

نوین تمہیں معافی مانگنے کی ضرورت نہیں۔ ہمیں عماز کا مطالبہ قبول ہے۔

آئش نے بے یقینی سے تایا ابا کو دیکھا۔

لیکن اس شرط پر کہ آئش دوبارہ اس گھر میں داخل نہیں ہو سکے گی۔ انہوں نے جملے کی دوسری کڑی جوڑی۔ کیوں آئش بیٹا یہی چاہتی تھی نا تم۔ آئش نے پھٹی پھٹی نظروں سے تایا ابا کو دیکھا۔
