کہانی کی شروعات میں جہانزیب ہیرو اور کبیر ولن محسوس ہوتا ہے، لیکن وقت کے ساتھ یہ کردار الٹ جاتے ہیں۔ جہانزیب کی ماں زمل کو ناپسند کرتی ہے کیونکہ وہ اپنی بھانجی کو بہو بنانا چاہتی ہے، اسی وجہ سے وہ اس رشتے کے خلاف ہوتی ہیں۔
جہانزیب رشتے کے انکار پر خودکشی کی کوشش کرتا ہے جس کے بعد ماں مان جاتی ہیں اور زمل سے اس کی شادی ہو جاتی ہے۔ شادی کے بعد جہانزیب کی ماں زمل پر بدکرداری کا الزام لگاتی ہیں اور طلاق دلوادیتی ہیں۔ زمل اس اذیت کو برداشت نہیں کر پاتی اور ذہنی طور پر بہت متاثر ہوتی ہے۔
جہانزیب کو اس کی ماں بیرون ملک بھیج دیتی ہیں جہاں وہ بھی زمل کو نہیں بھلا پاتا اور دماغی رسولی (Brain Tumor) کا شکار ہو کر وفات پا جاتا ہے۔
دوسری طرف زمل کی ماں اس کی شادی کبیر سے زبردستی کروا دیتی ہیں۔ کبیر، جو کبھی ولن تھا، اب زمل کا خیال رکھنے والا شوہر بن جاتا ہے۔ آخرکار زمل ایک بیٹے کو جنم دیتی ہے جس کا نام وہ “جہانزیب” رکھتی ہے تاکہ وہ اپنی محبت کو نہ بھلا سکے۔
