ایان نے خوف زدہ لہجے میں کہا ۔
“قیدی؟ کون قیدی؟”

ایان پیچھے ہٹ گیا۔ اس کے قدم لڑکھڑائے اور وہ کرسی سے ٹکرا کر زمین پر گر پڑا۔ پسینے سے شرابور، وہ سمجھنے سے قاصر تھا کہ یہ خواب ہے یا حقیقت۔
“مہران… مجھے لگتا ہے میرے ساتھ کچھ عجیب ہو رہا ہے۔ آئینے میں میرا عکس… وہ الگ ہے۔”
مہران نے قہقہہ لگایا ۔
“حادثے کے بعد کا صدمہ ہے۔ ایسا اکثر ہوتا ہے۔ تمہیں وہم ہو رہا ہے ۔”
ایان نے سنجیدگی سے کہا ۔
“یہ وہم نہیں، وہ مجھ سے بات کر رہا تھا۔ کہہ رہا تھا کہ میں نقلی ہوں… اور اصل وہ ہے جو آئینے میں قید ہے۔”
مہران کے چہرے کا رنگ اڑ گیا۔ وہ چند لمحے خاموش رہا، پھر بولا ۔
“تمہارے گھر کے قریب جو پرانی لائبریری ہے نا… وہاں ایک بوڑھا آدمی بیٹھتا ہے، زاہر۔ لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ وہ پرانے علم میں کمال رکھتا ہے۔ ہمیں اس سے بات کرنی چاہیے۔”
لائبریری کی مدھم روشنی میں زاہر کے الفاظ گونج رہے تھے ۔
“روشنی کا قیدی اگر آزاد ہو گیا، تو تمہارا وجود مٹ جائے گا۔”
ایان کے اندر جیسے کسی نے برف انڈیل دی ہو۔ اس نے دھیرے سے پوچھا ۔
“لیکن کیوں؟ آخر میرا عکس قیدی کیوں ہے؟ اور میں کیوں نقلی ہوں؟”
زاہر نے ایک طویل سانس بھری۔
“یہ کہانی بہت پرانی ہے۔ انسان کے وجود میں دو حصے ہوتے ہیں ۔۔۔ ایک جسمانی اور ایک نوری۔ جسمانی وجود دنیا کی مٹی سے جڑا ہے اور نوری وجود روشنی کی دنیا سے۔ زیادہ تر لوگوں کا نوری وجود قابو میں رہتا ہے، مگر کبھی کبھار حادثہ یا صدمہ پردہ ہٹا دیتا ہے۔ تمہارے ساتھ بھی یہی ہوا ہے۔”
ایان نے لرزتی آواز میں کہا ۔
“تو… اب میں کیا کروں؟”
زاہر نے اس کی آنکھوں میں دیکھ کر کہا ۔
“تمہیں جاننا ہوگا کہ آئینہ میں تمہارے عکس کو کس نے قیدی بنایا۔ ہر عکس اپنی مرضی سے قید نہیں ہوتا۔ کسی نہ کسی نے قید کیا ہوتا ہے۔ اور جس نے قید کیا، وہ اب تمہارے پیچھے بھی آسکتا ہے۔”
