وہ تخت کے ایک الگ تھلگ گوشے میں یوں سمٹی بیٹھی تھی جیسے خود کو دنیا کی ہر نظر سے چھپانا چاہتی ہو۔ تخت کے دوسرے کونے میں اس کے اتارے ہوئے دو کنکن اور زرق برق جھمکے لاوارث سے پڑے تھے،جو یقیناً اس نے
اپنے اندر اٹھتے طوفان کی تاب نہ لا کر اتار پھینکے تھے۔
دونوں گھٹنوں کو سینے سے لگائے، گرد بازوؤں کا مضبوط حصار باندھے وہ اپنے آپ سے سختی سے لپٹی ہوئی تھی۔ اس کا ماتھا بازوؤں اور گھٹنوں کے درمیان ٹکا تھا، جبکہ سیاہ، گھنے بال کسی تاریک آبشار کی طرح اس کے دائیں بائیں
جھول رہے تھے۔ رونے سے سرخ پڑی آنکھوں اور بھیگے رخساروں سے بالوں کی چند لٹیں چپکی ہوئی تھیں، جو اس کے ضبط کی اخری حدوں کی گواہی دے رہی تھیں۔
